HOUSING BENEFIT FOR HOUSING MANAGERS (In the social sector)
HOUSING BENEFIT MAKES UP MOST OF THE INCOME OF YOUR ORGANISATION AND IS A VITAL FOR TENANTS TO KEEP THEIR HOME.
DO YOU HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION THAT YOU NEED TO DEAL WITH IT?
Buying my housing benefit guide could give you what you need It can help you save huge amounts of time chasing claims and negotiating with the council. The guide can help you avoid costly and expensive mistakes on things like overpayments, rent levels and getting claims processed. It gives you:
All the housing benefit rules most relevant to your work;
Information on what housing benefit offices can and cannot do;
Loads of practical hints and tips on how to avoid problems and deal with them when they come up- not just a bare explanation of the rules;
In depth discussions of the key issues for social sector housing staff, including overpayments, delays in payment, the verification framework, the rights and obligations of landlords, how to calculate benefit entitlement, problems with new and renewal claims;
Clear guidance on what to do when things go wrong, including detailed information about the new appeal system and other remedies.
The guide is written for all social-sector housing workers, from housing assistants to directors and also for social services and probation staff. It is aimed at experienced workers and beginners. It contains specialist information dealing with benefit in supported and sheltered accommodation, hostels etc. as well as general needs housing. This is the only guide of its type designed to deal with the problems you face!
NEW FORMAT- MORE UP TO DATE
The problem with printed benefits guides is that the benefit system is in constant change, and printed guides soon go out of date. The traditional format is a printed book, usually published once a year. This means that if you buy a guide half way through the year it will already be out of date.
My new format is a loose leaf A4 manual, similar to my overpayment and maximising housing benefit manuals. The inside pages of the guide will be printed off when you order so the guide will be up to date when you get it. The guide contains similar material to previous editions- although obviously updated, and has full contents and index.
You then only need to order a new one when more than a year has elapsed since you bought the guide or when there are major changes to housing benefit.
The guide is now larger and less “book like” than the previous versions, but I think that the format is more user friendly than the old one.
